Jewel Namibia and Water and More
Namibia is a wonderful country with an area of 825,615 km² and the most diverse land formations and colours. Around 3 million people of the most diverse language groups and tribes are spread across it. That is on average 3.7 people per km²; but it is the driest country in the Sub-Saharan climate. At any time of year, the appearance can be completely different, depending entirely on the rainy season. Either fauna and flora are generous in diversity and beauty — unmatched in its kind — or there is dried-out grass and animals that have perished because no natural water can be found, followed by veld fires or diseases.
Please think along and behave in an environmentally friendly way and do not throw any rubbish into this paradise of unlimited possibilities. We are not “green”; we grew up in Europe and immigrated to Namibia, have lived here for over 30 years and see — a country between coast and desert, with many natural resources, a jewel that can only be preserved if everyone helps and thinks along, in small things as well as in big ones.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that every lodge/accommodation, except in the cities, has its own borehole, up to 200 m deep, with good water; otherwise the farm/lodge would not exist there. This water is used for preparing meals, coffee/tea is made with it, and the juices and ice cubes offered are mixed with it. If the water is expressly not suitable as drinking water, this information will be clearly displayed. Please familiarise yourself with the idea that you, especially our valued travel guests who come from a much more humid climate, should consume on average 2–3 litres of water per day — how many 300 ml plastic bottles is that per day per travel guest, per 2-week tour?
We provide you with your own water bottle, which you can refill again and again during the trip. The water at the lodges is drinkable and if you buy water in a shop, please buy the largest possible 5-litre plastic containers in order to supply yourself on the way, and these can then also be refilled at the lodges.
We would be pleased if you accept our offer and use your water bottle.
